Sara Berthoumieux wins Ian Lawson Van Toch Memorial Award

Outstanding student paper at ISMB/ECCB 2011

Sara Berthoumieux, PhD student in the IBIS team, has won the Ian Lawson Van Toch Memorial Award for the paper Identification of metabolic network models from incomplete high-throughput datasets, presented at ISMB/ECCB 2011. ISMB and ECCB are the two major bioinformatics conferences, which were colocated in Vienna this year. The paper of Sara has been published in the special ISMB/ECCB issue of Bioinformatics. An interview in which she explains her work can be found on the INRIA website.

The Ian Lawson Van Toch Memorial Award is given to the student who presents the most thought-provoking or original paper at the conference, as judged by a panel of experts. This award is given in memory of Ian Lawson Van Toch, a 23 year old Medical Biophysics graduate student at the University of Toronto who passed away in August 2007. The award is sponsored by the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, IBM and Roche.
